Your Funding Options

Mental Health Care Plans

The Psychiatrist and Psychologists at Lismore Mental Health Collective are registered Medicare providers. With a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) written by your GP, you can now access up to 20 sessions with a clinical or registered psychologist per calendar year. There is a gap fee (an out of pocket expense) per session, which varies for each psychologist.

To access the Medicare rebate to see our psychiatrist, clinical psychologist or one of our registered psychologists your GP needs to provide you with two documents:

A referral letter addressed to the practitioner or Lismore Mental Health Collective, and

A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

If you have a MHCP, you will need to pay the full standard consultation fee upfront on the day of your appointment. Medicare rebates will be processed immediately for you, so that funds will be returned into your back account as soon as possible (usually within 1 business day). Please ensure you have your Medicare card details with you.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Lismore Mental Health Collective can also accept referrals for those with NDIS funding for psychology and counselling sessions, provided that funding is either self-managed or plan managed. We are not an NDIA registered provider. Any practitioner at Lismore Mental Health Collective can offer counselling or psychology services for those with self-managed or plan managed NDIS funding.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health funds offer payment towards psychological services with registered counsellors and/or psychologists. This is dependent on the insurer and level of cover.

Victims of Crime

Some of our practitioners are registered Victims of Crime Counsellors. To find out more please visit Victims of Crime Counselling  to apply.
